General Information
Description
Suspension Polyvinyl Chloride, or SPVC is a type of PVC that is differentiated by the way the polymer particles are dispersed in the final product. In SPVC, the PVC particles are suspended in a continuous phase, often a liquid monomer or a solvent. This results in a material with unique properties, such as improved flexibility and flowability, making it useful for certain applications like coatings, adhesives, and sealants. SPVC is also known for its good resistance to weathering and aging, as well as its excellent adhesion properties.
Applications
SPVC, is commonly used in a variety of applications due to its unique properties. Some of the most common applications include:
- Coatings: SPVC is used as a binder in coatings due to its excellent adhesion properties and resistance to weathering and aging. It is often used in marine coatings, protective coatings for concrete, and decorative coatings.
- Adhesives: SPVC is used as a binder in hot melt adhesives due to its good flowability and melting point. It is commonly used in packaging, automotive, and construction applications.
- Sealants: SPVC is used as a sealant material due to its high flexibility and ability to form a watertight seal. It is commonly used in construction applications, such as sealing windows and doors, and in automotive applications, such as sealing body panels and windshields.
- Industrial applications: SPVC is used in various industrial applications, such as in the production of rubber and plastics, as a binder in masterbatches, and as a dispersant in mineral slurries.
