General Information
Description
LLDPE, or Linear Low-Density Polyethylene, is a type of polyethylene that is similar to LDPE in its flexibility, but with better performance properties. It has a higher molecular weight and less branching than LDPE, which gives it better strength, impact resistance, and heat resistance. LLDPE is commonly used in applications where these properties are important, such as in packaging, films, and blown or injection-moded parts. It is also recyclable, which makes it an environmentally-friendly choice.
Applications
Some typical applications for LLDPE:
- Packaging: Films, bags, and coatings for food, beverages, and industrial chemicals
- Blown and injection-molded parts: Automotive parts, appliance parts, and industrial components
- Extrusion: Film, pipe, and sheet applications
- Medical: Blood bags, IV fluid bags, and medical tubing
- Agricultural: Irrigation tubing, greenhouse films, and silage bags
- Transportation: Bus interiors, fuel tanks, and automotive parts
- Wire and cable insulation: Telecommunications and power cables
