SABIC participated in the 14th Saudi Plastics & Petrochemicals Trade Fair and the Saudi Print and Packaging Exhibition at the Jeddah Center for Forums and Events from February 27 to March 2. SABIC was the Diamond Sponsor.
SABIC participated in the fair to build relationships with manufacturers, suppliers and customers, just as it had done in the earlier versions of the fair. It showcased a range of high-performance polymers, some of which were POE, POP, ABS, PMMA, and EPDM.
SABIC’s participation came at a time when the company is moving forward in its transformation journey to ensure it continues delivering on its vision, strategy and ambition.
Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh, SABIC Executive Vice President, who headed the company’s delegation, explained, “We have integrated some of our strategy business units as part of our restructuring plan, which seeks to create an organization that focuses primarily on the market. The restructuring process came after a comprehensive review of the challenges faced by SABIC as it seeks to fulfil its 2025 strategy, including responding to changes in the market, as well as moving its technical and innovation agenda forward.”
Al-Fageeh pointed out that SABIC has merged its Chemicals and Polymers Strategic Business Units, into a new unit, Petrochemicals, thereby powering its petrochemicals commodity focus. The company has designed the new structure in line with the Saudi Vision 2030, which focuses on excellence in organizational and functional achievements, and improve efficiencies.
SABIC is also seeking to support efforts to increase local content in manufacturing and create opportunities in the Kingdom’s manufacturing sector.
During the four-day trade fair, SABIC introduced its new product portfolio, including POE, which can be used to impact modification for automotive components, such as car bumpers, auto interiors, etc. It is also used for manufacturing footwear and wire and cable; PME, which provides flexible packaging for food and non-food items with a quick production process; ABS for manufacturing external and internal automotive parts and appliances; POM for manufacturing auto fuel systems and plumbing parts, such as gears, sprinkler systems and shower heads; PMMA used in light and screen LCD applications; BR used to manufacture tires and footwear; and EPDM used to develop auto coolant/air hose, building profiles and industrial hoses.
Al-Fageeh also addressed a group of SABIC customers at a special event during the fair.
