SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, is on the cusp of celebrating a decade of
innovation and sustainability, as the iconic ICEhouse™ returns to now for the 9th year during the World Economic Forum annual meeting taking place in Davos, Switzerland from 20-24 January 2025.

In line with this year’s theme of “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age”, the ICEhouse™ is once again a venue for collaboration, engagement, dialogue and action.

During a reception held with global business figures and policy makers, Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh, SABIC CEO said, “The ICEhouse has become a symbol of SABIC’s approach to sustainability. Through partnership, cutting-edge technology and bold commitments to carbon neutrality and circularity, we continue to transform the chemical industry, creating value for present and future generations.”

The ICEhouse will also host discussions and dialogue with various other SABIC collaboration partners. One such partner is the Global Impact Coalition, the CEO-led chemical industry initiative, formally incubated by the World Economic Forum, whose focus is on accelerating the development and upscaling, of low-carbon emitting technologies for chemical production and related value chains. Another partner is the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), the world's first standalone international organization focusing on the digital economy, and who used the ICEhouse™ as a hub to engage with political, business, cultural and civil society leaders to help inform and shape global, regional and industry agendas.

The ICEhouse will also be the venue for sessions co-hosted by the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia (MISA), the Ministry of Energy (MOE), and the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources (MIM) as part of an exclusive Executive Leadership Dialogue to address key implications of global sustainability and energy transition goals in hard-to-abate industries.

Also, as part of the Forum’s Accredited programme, SABIC held a panel discussion entitled The Invisible Guardian: Chemistry’s Role in Food & Nutrition Security”, hosted by Fahad Al- Battar, CEO SABIC Agri-Nutrients, which explored advancements in more sustainable and fortified fertilizers, and showcased the intersection between chemistry, nutrition, and sustainability.

SABIC’s Innovation for the Circular Economy (ICEhouse), designed by architect William McDonough is a distinctive concept-structure designed to demonstrate new possibilities for building in closed-loop carbon systems that reduce energy and material waste. A modular building that can be constructed and disassembled over-and-over again, it is a pioneering example embodying the Circular Economy in action.
