SABIC joins forces with value chain partners DSM and UPM Biofuels to introduce Bio-Based chemicals under our TRUCIRCLE™ Initiative

SABIC has partnered with supplier UPM Biofuels, a leading producer of sustainable raw materials, and customer Royal DSM, a global science-based company in Nutrition, Health and Sustainable Living, to introduce renewable chemicals in customer applications.

Using a wood-based residue from pulping processes, UPM Biofuels produces renewable feedstock that is then processed by SABIC to make renewable ethylene. This renewable ethylene will then be used in DSM’s Dyneema® products, a fiber or Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMwPE) used in a variety of applications such as sports equipment, protective clothing, offshore marine or air cargo netting.

By transitioning from fossil-based feedstock to renewable feedstock leveraging SABIC’s ground-breaking TRUCIRCLE™ solutions for certified renewable products - resins and chemicals from bio-based feedstock that is not in competition with the food chain and help to reduce carbon emissions, DSM aims to improve the sustainability value and impact of its raw materials.

The new partnership underlines SABIC, UPM and DSM’s commitment to working closely together to realize a more responsible value chain creating positive impact on environmental challenges.

TRUCIRCLE™ is SABIC’s complete portfolio of solutions that span design for recyclability, mechanically recycled products, certified circular products from feedstock recycling of plastic waste streams and certified renewables products from bio-based feedstock.
