The 2019 China Good Brand awards, initiated by Shanghai United Media Group and Jiemian Media, today announced the outcome of this year’s search for the most exceptional brands. SABIC, a world leading diversified chemical company, stood out due to its outstanding performance in the field of branding, winning the China Good Brand award in the chemical industry category, following a comprehensive screening process that included data analysis, online surveys and expert reviews.
Li Lei, Vice President and Regional Head, North Asia, SABIC said, "This award, presented by Jiemian Media, is indicative of the power of our recently launched global brand campaign and confirms SABIC’s unremitting efforts in corporate branding. Strengthening the SABIC brand provides firmer support for internal and external cohesion throughout the company and helps us to further fulfill our vision of Chemistry That MattersTM."
At the 2019 China Good Brand awards ceremony held today, Susan Jiang, Director of Regional Communications, APAC, SABIC, accepted the award on behalf of the company. She said, "We are being increasingly recognized by various Chinese authoritative institutions, which is an inspiring testimony of our global branding efforts, and we are so glad to see that SABIC brand stories are resonating in China. We will continue to march toward our vision of becoming a preferred world leader in chemicals and better interpreting Chemistry That MattersTM as a force that promotes consensus across the industry chain, advancing the sustainable growth of the chemical industry."
Initiated in 2018, the China Good Brand awards range 100 different industries and this year's selection covers five aspects: brand culture, brand credibility, brand strategy, brand influence and official certification. Consumers and a panel of 100 branding experts were invited to strictly review the brands, ultimately selecting one China Good Brand for each industry, in total 100 winners from 1,000 candidates. Shortlisted companies include well-known brands such as Benz, Huawei, Intel and Bayer.
In September this year, SABIC launched its first global brand campaign, underlying the company's spirit of collaboration and innovation, and its alignment with the Chemistry That MattersTM concept. By covering multiple communication channels such as TV, print and digital media, as well as a presence in targeted spaces such as airports in many countries around the world, SABIC is comprehensively showcasing a series of co-operative solutions to help meet market demands amidst a backdrop of global change, demonstrating SABIC's long-term commitment to sustainable growth with a focus on several major themes: urbanization, food & water, sustainability and energy efficiency.
Addressing the most pressing challenges facing the world today is one of the core themes of SABIC's global brand campaign. SABIC has been a growth partner for China since the 1980s and having accompanied China throughout the implementation of its Reform and Opening-up policy, SABIC today has a state-of-art SABIC Technology Center in Shanghai, three plants in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing, a joint venture with Sinopec running a world-class petrochemical complex in Tianjin and operations in 14 cities across Greater China. The increasing value of the SABIC brand will enable the company to achieve inclusive growth in China and ensure that its growth is in line with the long-term development of the environment, economy and society at large.
The 2019 edition of Brand Finance’s internationally respected Brand Finance Chemicals 10 report placed SABIC among the top three global chemical companies and estimated the brand value to be $3.964 billion.
