Helping electric and hybrid driving charge ahead
Our automotive collaborations are helping accelerate the performance of electric and hybrid vehicles. SABIC resins can reduce the weight of components across the entire vehicle, from the exterior and interior parts to structures and the heart of electric vehicles (EVs) – the battery pack.
Indeed, convincing drivers to shift to electric vehicles (EVs) depends on batteries that charge faster, run for longer, and are more efficient. Through our electrification initiative, SABIC is developing materials, solutions, and expertise to help the world’s automakers enhance EV batteries to deliver the full capability of EVs. We are doing it through collaborations with automakers, part and system suppliers, battery manufacturers, and others. We tap into the industry’s ingenuity and the power of our science and technology to help develop EV batteries that weigh less, can meet critical safety requirements, are easier to assemble and manufacture, and ultimately deliver the performance that can meet consumer expectations.
New power from the sun and the water
In collaboration with renewable energy companies, we’re helping build solar fields on lakes. The panels float on supports made from SABIC materials, so they stay cool and generate energy more efficiently, without overheating or using the valuable land resources.
EVEN BETTER EVS
Electric vehicles play a central role in the shift to sustainable transportation. SABIC’s advanced materials are enabling next-generation powertrain technology so that EVs can be more efficient and travel longer distances between charges.
