Propelling SABIC solutions into Formula E

As the premier championship for electric racing, Formula E brings some of the greatest manufacturers together, racing on the streets of major global cities and renowned circuits, with the goal of advancing electric vehicle technology.

Leading the charge

As a Principal and an Innovation Partner of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, Season 11 marks another exciting chapter in our collaboration. This season presents a unique opportunity for SABIC to showcase our innovations to thousands of fans and stakeholders across four continents and 10 countries.

Driving change through GENBETA

SABIC is a key partner in the GENBETA program. Created by Formula E and FIA in collaboration with SABIC, the GENBETA live development platform includes a series of projects designed to advance crucial innovations in electric racing cars. This program redefines what’s possible on the track but also accelerates the adoption of EV innovations for everyday driving.

Fuelling innovation in performance

The GENBETA car showcases four unique applications of SABIC’s highly engineered thermoplastics, which enable design freedom through their excellent moldability compared to other materials. The wheel fins, wind deflectors, and front wing endplates help optimize airflow and reduce aerodynamic drag for enhanced acceleration. The OCS T-Piece for the onboard camera system, ensures consistent transmission even under higher temperatures.

Breaking records and barriers

The GENBETA car made its debut at the Season 9 finale in London, where Jake Hughes set a new Guinness World Record for Indoor Land Speed, reaching an impressive 218.71 KPH. Leveraging material science, SABIC played a key role in developing the fastest, lightest, most powerful and efficient electric race car, reinforcing SABIC’s capabilities as a leader in the EV space.
