STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

In our efforts to create a sustainable future, we recognize our impacts on diverse stakeholders. We commit to working with them globally.

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT: FOUR MAIN OBJECTIVES

  • Identify primary stakeholders
  • Understand our effect
  • Discover new ways to collaborate
  • Establish best tools

Our leaders take responsibility for stakeholder engagement. Details of this our strategy and key stakeholders are in the technical supplement. The Engagement and Collaboration section has additional information.

WBCSD ENGAGEMENT

Since 2011, SABIC has participated in the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). We took part in working groups this year with experts from the chemicals industry.

SABIC’s 2018 sustainability report was highlighted in WBCSD’s Reporting Matters publication as a good example.

In China we participate in local associations including the Association of International Chemical Manufacturers and the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. We also participant in the China Business Council on Sustainable Development. This year, we strengthened our relationships with Chinese recycling-industry associations.

GOVERNMENT ENGAGEMENTS

SABIC partners the Saudi government at UN climate discussions and its Conference of Parties. We also support in carbon-sequestration and circular economy discussions. In Europe, we work with the European Commission and Plastics. Europe to advance the chemical recycling of mixed plastic waste.
