XENOY™ Resins: Automotive Thermoplastic Solutions from SABIC
XENOY™ materials have a long history of success in automotive energy absorption applications. XENOY was chosen for one of the first thermoplastic bumpers. Today, these alloys of polyester and polycarbonate deliver high strength, impact performance (including low-temperature impact) and dimensional stability for pedestrian energy absorbers, bumper beams and crash cans, as well as chassis components.
The introduction of e-coating capability has allowed XENOY materials to be used for body-in-white (BIW) energy-absorbing structures such as A- and B-pillars, offering significant weight saving and part integration opportunities. Good flow properties enable XENOY resins to be used to injection mold relatively complex geometries.
They can also be combined with metals or continuous fiber composites in EV battery protection solutions such as trays and rocker reinforcements.
