STAMAX™ Resins: Automotive Thermoplastic Solutions from SABIC

Weight reduction – especially in electric vehicles (EVs) – is an ongoing focus for automotive OEMs looking to improve range and performance. Replacing metal with thermoplastics not only cuts weight but also increases design freedom, enables part consolidation, eliminates corrosion and helps avoid costly secondary operations.

STAMAX™ materials can replace steel and aluminum in EV battery covers, enclosures, trays and plates, and in semi-structural parts such as instrument panels, front-end and door modules, and inner tailgate structures. 

These long glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene (LGF-PP) copolymers combine high stiffness, high impact resistance, excellent structural performance and easy flow for thin walls. Grades offering non-halogenated flame retardance, UV stabilization, optimized emissions for odor control and higher heat performance are available.
